Guide Right

The Atlanta Alumni Chapter is a staunch supporter of Guide Right in Kappa Alpha Psi. The chapter recognizes and strongly supports the Guide Right Program’s primary objectives, which are as follows.

1) To encourage high school and college attendance
2) Present the current and future occupation outlook
3) To assist persons of high school age, potential members and members of the undergraduate chapters to select appropriate careers to fit themselves for life in companionship with others
4) To develop leadership qualities.
5) To encourage the achievement of academic success
6) To provide youth with assistance in securing employment consistent with their qualifications.

The Atlanta Alumni Chapter works to achieve these objectives by placing the training experience and friendly interest of successful men at the disposal of youth needing inspiration and counsel regarding their choice of a life’s career. This of course establishes hope and inspires youth as they seek to realize lives of usefulness.

The chapter continually emphasizes the need and value of education.

The Chapter also has a history of pulling together groups of high school students, which basically make up Atlanta Alumni’s Kappa League Program. The program does in fact teach and develop leadership skills as well as assist in the preparation of young people’s abilities to qualify for other scholarships and even jobs. Assistance is also provided through tutoring, guidance in the selection of curriculum, and career choices. Cultural awareness is also provided in the program. Students are taught the importance of neatness and being well groomed. They have benefited from fraternity members sponsoring their attendance to plays, Toastmaster’s Chapter, career day lecture series, sporting events, supervising their participation in fund raising activities, and community service projects.

The chapter works with college students who are fraternity members as well. The emphasis in working with the students continues to be academic achievement. Again, just as with the high school students the importance of neatness, being well groomed, use of good grammar, and community service is continually stressed.

In addition to supporting the fraternity’s National Service Program, which is “Guide Right”, the Atlanta Alumni Chapter seizes the opportunity to use the program as a vehicle to serve the community
